The Making of the 2023 Clip Compilation!
Collection
Collecting all the clips is its own task. I need to go through the entire catalogue of clips on my computer and on my twitch channel. Then I also have to ask my friends if they have any good ones too.
Order
After collecting all of the clips, I add the clips to the editor and go one by one. I fully make each edit as I put them in. Due to the nature of the video being based around time, I try to make the clips appear in chronological order. I also don’t want multiple games to appear in a row (ex. If all my Lethal Company clips are around the same time, I try to spread them out instead of putting them all together.)
How
All the editing is done in DaVinci Resolve, a very powerful editor with many tools. Most of the edits are done using keyframe animations, built in transitions, filters, and special effects.
Experimentation
I’ve been editing videos for over nine years at this point but I know there’s still a lot more for me to learn. My editing (especially in this video) is mostly funny as I try to make the viewers laugh as they watch ridiculous things happen on screen. I experimented several times in the 2023 clip compilation, making edits that I had never tried to make before. It really pays off because some of the best moments were ones that I did something new for
The Story Arc
When I first started editing, I did not think about making the 3-part story about the Rock Elemental chucking rocks. Most of my ideas come to me as I’m editing and so halfway through, I realized something funny I could do. Each of the 3 clips was more advanced than the last until the final one which had voice acting and so much effort put in that it took an entire day.
